Functional Dysautonomia - How Neurological Imbalance Can Effect the Gut Health and More

In this 75th episode I discuss a neurological imbalance referred to as functional dysautonomia, which is an imbalance of the sympathetic (fight or flight) & parasympathetic (rest and digest) nervous system functions.

I will explain:

  • what exactly is going on

  • some differences between a more chronic dysautonomia mechanism vs. a stress response

  • what brain regions are involved

  • how a condition like this might manifest symptomatically

  • how it could be related to Covid-19

  • and some tips on how to improve the condition

I also share a story about when my dog Cheddar and I were stalked by two coyotes in a local canyon.

And lastly... Near the end of the episode I had a brain-skip and couldn't restate the definition of the neurological condition called POTS on the fly. The definition is: Postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) which is a condition where changes in posture, for example from sitting to standing, leads to dramatic increases in heart rate and often times a loss of blood pressure.
